Case Study: Balancing Cardholder Security with Convenience

Adele Glenn, Technology Solutions Architect, eServices, San Antonio Federal Credit Union

Balancing cardholder security and convenience to pay anywhere at any time is a daunting task for any Financing Institution.  But at San Antonio Federal Credit Union, they are constantly improving member experience by introducing card control.  It’s an approach that reduces fraud while improving cardholder confidence and product satisfaction.

The product empowers cardholders to control how, when, and where their debit and credit cards can be used through their phone.  At the touch of a finger, they can:

  • Switch cards on and off instantly,
  • Receive transaction alerts in real-time,
  • Correlate phone and transaction location,
  • Choose merchant categories, and
  • Customize transaction types.

Attend this presentation to learn best practices on how SACU, with a presence in 42 states, implemented the solution that provides the freedom to use cards anywhere while minimizing false declines.

Case Study: How Can CUs Protect Customers During Card Not Present Transactions

Brandon Kuehl, Head of Product Development, TMG

Philip Andreae, Vice President Field Marketing, Oberthur Technologies

Credit unions are facing a rapidly changing landscape where technologies create opportunities for profit while adding complexity to the knowledge and skills required to successful run a credit union.  In late 2013 malware, hackers and criminals who seek to profit from stolen data exposed the weakness of many retailers system driving both issuers and Financial Institutions to worry about how they secure the aging magnetic stripe card.  In 2014, Apple announced Apple Pay creating a new world where the consumers smart phone became a significant part of how we look at payment at the Point of Sale.  In 2015, the EMV liability shift was upon us and everyone scrambled to decide by October or accept the potential lose and chargebacks.  This year the alarming growth in Card Not Present Fraud is top of mind and how we can make our digital world more secure while reducing friction and assuring convenience.

Case Study: Driving Better Consumer Experiences Through Integration

Jeremiah Lotz, VP of Digital Enablement, PSCU

Consumes need the speed, convenience and the “always on” availability of a digital channel to manage their financial lives.  Financial institutions are often tied to experiences driven by their multiple providers and left trying to create the balance of convenience and cost effectiveness.  Technology has advanced in a way that creates near limitless possibilities when data integration is leveraged to connect multiple systems and drive consumer experience.

In this session we will explore multiple use cases of how exposing data and web services have allowed financial institutions to accomplish service and growth goals through multiple channels.
