Merchant Customer Exchange (MCX) is looking to transform the way that consumers shop, shifting purchases to mobile phone transactions.   But MCX is much more than mobile payments. MCX is a consortium of the top retailers across country working to build a new mobile commerce platform, spanning payments, marketing, loyalty, and numerous other features that will revolutionize the shopping experience. And in the process, MCX is seeking to establish win-win partnerships with banks.

This presentation will cover the most commonly asked questions: Who is MCX?  What is MCX looking to build? What’s the value proposition to consumers?  How would payments “work”?  What technology will be used?

Following the presentation, MCX will moderate a panel discussion with four large participating retailers.  These merchants will discuss how they think about mobile commerce; why they chose to build their own mobile platform; what they see as the opportunities to build greater loyalty with customers, as well as the challenges of mobile commerce, such as the risk of disintermediation by wallet intermediaries.
